I deactivated my Twitter (X) account this weekend. Instead of banging on about the plethora of reasons why, I just have one important one.
It goes like this.
If I am a reader, I read.
If I am a writer, I write.
If I am creative, I create.
If I am a consumer, then by all means, I will scroll social media and consume what the algorithm decides I should care about.
But I’m a reader.
So for me, I’m busy reading and minding my affairs. These are the things that delight me and when I am delighted, I’m fulfilled. When I’m fulfilled, I share from the wellspring within me.
If I am consuming low-calorie rhetoric, I am depleted. Unfulfilled.
So I deactivated (excised) a platform (a tumor) that no longer served or supported my goals; it drained me of them.
"If I am consuming low-calorie rhetoric, I am depleted. Unfulfilled."
I LOVE this. And this post was perfectly timed for me; I didn't deactivate mine, but I did log out of it everywhere just a little while ago. I'm feeling good about the decision. Thank you for helping to give me the final little boost I needed to make a leap I've been putting off for way too long!
Seriously contemplated doing the same this week after all that went on. It's doing more harm than good.
