I had a meeting with my publicity team for my book, 101 Horror Books to Read Before You’re Murdered coming August 8th, 2023. They had a lot of great ideas. Afterward, I stared off into the void and allowed my entrepreneurial brain to develop a way to process content across multiple platforms and I think I unlocked it.
Today, I wanted to post 10 horror book recommendations to celebrate Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month. So I gathered my book covers and made a collage for Twitter
I took a photo for #bookstagram
And then I made formatted graphics that I could share on my TikTok and Instagram reels. I used the same graphic for both and they all look the same, I just swapped out the book covers that I already downloaded to make the collage. And I added my own book at the bottom of the graphic to let people know that if they enjoy my horror book recommendations, they might want to buy my new book. TWO BIRDS, ONE STONE:
Now that I have all this content and graphics to go with it, I will schedule a full unpacking of these titles this week on my Patreon. I love my patron subscribers. I enjoy spending quality time on my content for them.
I realized that I should let people know, on the graphic, that I do full reviews on Patreon, so I added that to the template for next time. The cool thing about the photo editing platform I use, PicMonkey, is that I can save this template and then just plug in different book covers for whatever recommendations I’m doing next.
The fact that TikTok and Reels allow photo uploads for a visual slideshow instead of filming original content for that each time is such a time-saver. I know that putting your actual face on these visual tools maximizes your reach but that takes valuable time that I don’t want to give away for free anymore. That’s the beauty of user-content-based apps and platforms, YOU decide how much your time is worth. I want to read & write more-spend less time on social media. Work smarter, not harder. Let me know if you have any questions. Happy to help
I've been at this writing stuff for over a decade, but the marketing side still feels so alien and overwhelming to me, so I appreciate posts like this. I do really enjoy events, though, as I thrive more in face-to-face interactions. But it's good to know there are resources out there to help with the online stuff.
That's the way to go, girl! 🖤
