This Fall/Winter Season (I already started) I’ll be reading Gothic and Folk Horror. I have been researching all Summer to gather books for my TBR. I take my book research very seriously, spending a lot of time on various websites—curating my reading lists. I like to share them with other readers because
I know how much time goes into browsing books and not everyone has the time to do it
We see a lot of the same book recommendations cycle through the horror community so I’m always looking for underrepresented, quality work
This is my happy place—finding good books, reading them, sharing them, and watching others enjoy them. I could never ask for anything better. It’s truly my calling
.
Devil’s Day- a man and his wife must carry on village tradition after his father dies but how far are they willing to go? (on hoopla, the audiobook too)
Foxash- a married couple down on their luck partake in a government program to work a farm in exchange for a place to live & food. They meet a weird couple out there. Loved it!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I got mine at Blackwell’s
MIDNIGHT AT MAIDENSTONE HALL- a young man agrees to be a tutor for a child living in a rural Yorkshire estate—but the family has secrets and so does he. (Hoopla)
Necrology- Witches sign a deal never to perform magic but when they are threatened, it might be time for a revolt (release date: September 24th, 2024)
Lanny- a rural village outside of London is home to Dead Papa Toothwort, a local legend who has been waiting for Lanny to arrive with his parents (audiobook/hoopla)
WILD: TALES FROM EARLY MEDIEVAL BRITAIN- just an illustrated book of folklore, witches, wolves, and outcasts
Double Walker- terrifying and gruesome graphic novel full of Scottish folklore and legend. Just read it last night/this morning and loved it (Kindle Unlimited) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Help the Witch- short story collection of weird fiction & folklore/Bookshop.org
..
Do not sleep on Double Walker, it was SCARY!! I loved it so much. Do you love Folk Horror too? 🌾🍂

1. I love that you've been so much care into planning your spooky season reading. So great!
2. 'Help the Witch' is a fantastic collection. Tom Cox is really something else, and those stories are so eerie and atmospheric and FUN. —Mel
I'm always looking for more folk horror! Thanks for the list, Sadie! I checked Double Walker out from KU immediately!
